Eldad Melamed received his MD degree in 1968 from Hebrew University and Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem. After completing his residency at Hadassah University Hospital, he spent three years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology on a postdoctoral fellowship in neurochemistry and neuropharmacology. In addition to his work at Rabin Medical Center, Melamed is a professor of neurology at Tel Aviv University's Sackler School of Medicine and serves as the director of the Felsentien Research Institute of the university's Laboratory of Neuroscience. He is the chairman of the National Parkinson Foundation's Center for Research Excellence in Israel, and served seven years as the president of the Israel Neurological Association.
