Joseph Jankovic, MD, Professor of Neurology and Director of the Parkinson's Disease Center and Movement Disorders Clinic (PDCMDC) in the Department of Neurology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, Texas. A graduate of University of Arizona College of Medicine, Dr. Jankovic completed his internship at Baylor College of Medicine and his residency in neurology at Columbia University Neurological Institute in New York City, where he was elected Chief Resident. Founded by Dr. Jankovic in 1977, the PDCMDC has been selected by the National Parkinson Foundation, Inc. and the Huntington's Disease Society of America as a Center of Excellence. Past president of the international Movement Disorders Society (MDS), and current Chairman of the MDS Journal Oversight Committee, Dr. Jankovic has been elected as an Honorary Member in several organizations, including Australian Association of Neurologists and French Neurological Society. Dr. Jankovic has published over 600 articles and is a co-editor of dozens of books, including 'Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorders' and 'Neurology in Clinical Practice'. He has served on editorial boards of numerous journals including Neurology, Movement Disorders, Journal of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, Journal of Neurological Sciences, and Neurology Medlink. In 2004, Recognized for his scientific and clinical contributions in Parkinson's disease, other parkinsonian disorders and a variety of hyperkinetic movement disorders, such as tremor, dystonia, Tourette syndrome, Huntington disease, paroxysmal dyskinesias, restless legs syndrome and experimental medical and surgical therapeutics of movement disorders, Dr. Jankovic was selected by fellow scientists as Highly Cited Researcher (ISIHighlyCited.com). He has chaired or participated in scientific advisory boards of numerous national and international foundations. These include the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation, Tourette Syndrome Association, The Bachmann-Strauss Dystonia and Parkinson Foundation, and the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. Dr. Jankovic also has been an active member of the Parkinson Study Group, Huntington Study Group and other research and academic consortia. As the director of the Movement Disorders Fellowship training program at Baylor and, since 1990, as the co-director of the annual course "A Comprehensive Review of Movement Disorders for the Clinical Practitioner" in Aspen, Colorado, Dr. Jankovic has trained hundreds of fellows in movement disorders.
