Research Programs
Michael Rogan joined the Foundation in August 2007 to lead the development of PD Online Research, a collaborative scientific community which will conduct ongoing critical analysis of PD research and help connect high-priority research with the necessary financial resources.
Dr. Rogan received a BA in psychology from Columbia University and, following a stint as an IT consultant on Wall Street, earned his PhD in neuroscience in the laboratory of Joseph LeDoux at New York University. He joined the laboratory of Eric R. Kandel at Columbia University as a postdoctoral fellow, and was then appointed Research Scientist at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and Columbia’s Center for Neurobiology and Behavior. Dr. Rogan conducted translational studies of learning, emotion processing and basal ganglia function in mice and people using electrophysiology, genetics, and functional brain imaging.
In addition to his position at The Michael J. Fox Foundation, Dr. Rogan is a Fellow in Neuroimaging at Columbia’s Functional MRI Research Center, in the Departments of Neurology, Radiology and Psychology.
