Golfers Tee Up to "Break PARkinson's"

The BREAKING PARkinson's Golf Outing to benefit The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, held on September 18, 2006, raised more than $860,000 for Parkinson's research. The Foundation's guests and 100 golfers, including Michael J. Fox, enjoyed a fantastic day of sport and camaraderie, followed by cocktails, dinner and an auction.

Held in honor of Frederic Salerno, the outing was co-chaired by Foundation Board member Edwin A. Levy with Gene Gurkoff, Robert R. Greenberg, Adam Katz, R.J. Nemer and Sanford Sirulnick. The event took place at Deepdale Golf Club in Manhasset, New York.

In addition to a glorious day on the links, guests participated in an auction, bidding on prizes that included a Hamptons golf package at National with a helicopter ride courtesy of Talon Air, a day at Shea Stadium, a Nantucket getaway, and a Whistling Straits package including accommodations at the Riverbend club and rounds of golf for four on two spectacular courses: the esteemed Straits Course and the Irish Course.

Thanks to all who had a hand in the event's success. Here's looking forward to next year's event, to be held September 17, 2007 (save the date)!
