UGG Boots Art and Sole Charity Auction
UGG boots are not only having an impact on fashion but are making strides towards Parkinson's research as well. UGG Australia recently organized a fundraising event called 'Art and Sole'; which raised over $33,000 by enlisting some of Hollywood and television's biggest names to decorate UGG boots for an online auction. The proceeds were split between MJFF and Oceana, a non-profit international advocacy organization dedicated to restoring and protecting the world's oceans.
Celebrities such as Heather Locklear, Ted Danson, Alyssa Milano, Charlize Theron, and MJFF board member, Tracy Pollan were given a pair of UGGs, along with several colors of Mac nail polish, various gems and other decorative items to use along with their imagination to personalize the boots with a design of their own. The boots were all put up for auction on gottahaveit.com. Information on Parkinson'swhere the public could bid from November 22nd to December 6th to buy the boots. Britney Spear's boots earned the highest buying price at $6,500.
To support the online auction the customized boots were displayed in Nordstrom stores across the country. In total, MJFF received $14,391 from the event.
