MJFF Research Tools

Practical Solutions to Speed Progress

MJFF is committed to solving problems that slow down forward movement in pursuit of a cure for Parkinson’s.  We identify needed research tools with potential to bolster efforts throughout the field, then work with appropriate partners to engineer these tools at a high level of quality. Once we have developed them, we create (or leverage existing) practical distribution channels that remove hurdles to their widespread use by academic and industry researchers.

PPMI
PARKINSON’S PROGRESSION
MARKERS INITIATIVE
Data and specimens collected in PPMI, a large-scale, international biomarker study, are available for biomarker verification research on promising PD marker leads.

Antibodies
LRRK2 ANTIBODIES
MJFF is generating antibodies. The first efforts generated high-quality LRRK2 antibodies, which are now available at low cost to the PD research community.
Purchase antibodies at Epitomics
Purchase antibodies at Neuromab
Purchase antibodies at Covance

Based on the success of this effort and feedback from the research community, MJFF is creating additional antibodies against other proteins.

Models
RESEARCH MODELS
MJFF has driven efforts to produce pre-clinical models to further advance our understanding of PD and provide effective translatable tools for drug discovery.

PD Online Research
FOX TRIAL FINDER
Underenrollment in Parkinson's clinical trials represents a serious bottleneck to research progress toward a PD cure. Fox Trial Finder is a Web-based tool that connects willing volunteers with the clinical trials that urgently need them. Trial coordinators can also use the tool to identify potential volunteers for their studies.
