Family caregivers are the backbone of our health care system. They are unpaid and unrecognized, and anyone can turn into one in an instant. About 62 percent of people with Parkinson’s receive care from a family care partner. Congress should pass legislation that provides financial relief to family caregivers.
There is a bill in Congress right now that would help offset the financial challenges families experience with caregiving. The bill creates a new, nonrefundable tax credit of up to $5,000 for eligible family caregivers. Passing this bill is a way for Congress to show appreciation and support for the millions of family caregivers across the country.
You can email your Senators and Representative today and tell them why caregivers are important to you. Urge your lawmakers to support and pass H.R.3321/S.1670, the Credit for Caring Act of 2021.
