Nicole Jarvis Zimmerer was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in November 2011, after experiencing symptoms for a few years prior. Since her diagnoses, the OBGYN and mother of two 5-year-old twin boys has maintained a busy lifestyle. Interested in getting involved with a Team Fox event in her Norman, OK, community, Nicole realized there wasn’t one. “I decided that Oklahoma needs a Team Fox event in which the entire community across the state can participate,” Nicole says on her Team Fox page. ” So, I am now planning the Nicole Jarvis MD Winter Gala for Parkinson’s Disease Research!”
The idea for this event came a few short weeks ago. Initially, Nicole thought she would throw the event next Spring. After learning about the Brin Wojcicki Challenge, she decided to put something together before the end of this year. So, on December 13, Nicole is hosting her event at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History in Norman. The evening will include a sit down dinner, guest speakers and an auction. Since she joined Team Fox in early September, she has already raised over $30,000—well on her way to her $50,000 fundraising goal. Her fundraising secret? Persistence. That and cookies, which she admitted to baking for some of her donors.
