Five Ways to Kick Start Your New Year's Fitness Resolution

At the start of the New Year, we posed a query to our Team Fox members, asking you to share your resolutions for 2014. For those who vowed to invest more time improving their health and getting fit this year, Team Fox is here to help you knock your 2014 resolution out of the park!

Whether you’re a seasoned athlete seeking a new challenge or a newbie looking to set your initial goals, here are five events from Team Fox’s robust athletic schedule that are sure to both motivate and inspire you to get moving:

Rock N’ Roll USA Marathon and Half Marathon (March 15, 2014): Join Team Fox as we make our debut in the nation’s capital! With both a full and half marathon option, runners will have the opportunity to run past historic monuments while enjoying a festive racecourse. Receive training plans, coaching and the opportunity to participate in group runs!

5 Boro Bike Tour (May 5, 2014): See New York City unlike ever before as you ride this traffic-free course through all five of the city’s boroughs! The 40-mile course begins in Lower Manhattan and heads north through the heart of Central Park before taking participants on a scenic journey across five bridges, including the Queensboro and Verrazano-Narrows Bridges. With youth entries available, this is the perfect affair for the whole family!

Rim2Rim Grand Canyon Challenge (May 16-18, 2014):  Join a team of 20 extreme adventurists for a one-day physical challenge spanning over 24 miles and 6,000 vertical feet! On this inaugural Team Fox trip, you’ll traverse a beautiful portion of the historic national park while also scaling both the South and North Rim of the canyon. *For those nervous about completing the trek, participants will have the option to drive to the North Rim and complete a shorter day hike before meeting up with the larger group at the tail-end of their hike.

New York City Triathlon (August 3, 2014): Can’t decide whether to swim, bike or run in support of Team Fox? Join this 2014 team of athletic enthusiasts for a taste of all three through this Olympic distance triathlon around Manhattan! Begin with a swim across the mighty Hudson River before biking New York’s West Side Highway and ending with a run into Central Park. Participants will receive a detailed 16-week training program and the support of a team coach who will provide help and advice throughout the training. Local to NYC? Join weekly workouts with fellow team members and your Empire Training Club coach.

Remember that any race is the perfect opportunity to join Team Fox and fundraise in support of Parkinson’s research.
