Four Years of Enthusiasm and Dedication Land RaceTrac at Finish Line of $1 Million in Giving

Four Years of Enthusiasm and Dedication Land RaceTrac at Finish Line of $1 Million in Giving

RaceTrac, known across the southern United States for being the one-stop-shop for all your “on-the-go” needs, has surpassed $1 million in cumulative giving to The Michael J. Fox Foundation.

The company’s unique partnership with the Foundation began in 2010 when it established its “Coffee for a Cause” promotion, in which proceeds from all coffee purchased during one week in April — Parkinson’s Awareness Month — were donated to the Foundation. Since the inception of “Coffee for a Cause,” RaceTrac has expanded the promotion, donating proceeds from other purchases throughout April, including specially marked World’s Finest Chocolate Bars.

And the efforts don’t stop there. RaceTrac also drapes its more than 360 stores in MJFF signage throughout April, encouraging guests to donate at checkout while raising awareness of MJFF’s mission across the south in a way the Foundation cannot replicate. Building on the success and enthusiasm generated by their in-store promotions, RaceTrac shifted gears, taking their efforts to the next level. In 2011, the company held its first Run for Research 5K and Fun Run in Atlanta and three years later expanded the event, hosting its inaugural Dallas/Fort Worth run in 2014.

This impressive milestone is due in large part to RaceTrac’s dedicated team members who each year participate in the runs and continue to encourage the community to give back. Most recently, 130 RaceTrac employees ran in the Dallas/Fort Worth 5K and 300 employees ran in the Atlanta race.

“Finding a cure for Parkinson’s disease is a cause that hits close to home for the RaceTrac family,” said Allison Moran, CEO of RaceTrac. “We have seen an opportunity to get involved, and our team members have taken that opportunity and run with it — literally!”

The cause does hit close to home for this family owned company. RaceTrac’s Chairman of the Board, Carl Bolch Jr. was diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2007 and currently sits on MJFF’s Patient Council. His father Carl Bolch Sr., who founded the business in 1934, also had the disease.

The company plans to stay on track supporting MJFF, hosting its in-store promotions and 5K runs in April 2015.
