Fox Foto Friday: Finding the Finish Line

Fox Foto Friday: Finding the Finish Line

For Team Fox member Deb Spenniccia, the moment of crossing the finish line of last week's Disney World Half Marathon is one she won't soon forget.

With her husband Chris running at her side and her adorbale 2 1/2 year old son Liam (pictured left) cheering in support, Deb explains what it meant to run her first half in support of Team Fox:

Hi Team Fox!

This past weekend, we ran our first half marathon. We ran it for Team Fox. And it was amazing.

I have wanted to do this for years now, in order to honor my father who is fighting PD. I began training back in 2010 but had to stop for various reasons. I figured it wasn't my dream to have, and let it go. But not fully, apparently!

I decided this past summer to resurrect that dream and start training again. When I told my husband, Chris, he immediately said, "sign me up, too." I was stunned because (and he will tell you this) he hates running and had never done more than 3 miles at a clip.  But he knew what my dream was, he knew the importance of Team Fox and MJFF in my life, and he wanted to support me. So a-runnin' we went.

We navigated the hot Florida sun (and the snakes on the running paths), hired a babysitter to watch our 2-year-old son while we went on long runs, put in long miles on hotel treadmills when we were traveling, and were blessed to have my brother fly down from NY on race weekend to wrangle our son and cheer us on from the sidelines.

It felt amazing to cross that finish line and I was so proud to be wearing my Team Fox singlet while I did so.

With thanks and continued support,

Deb (and Chris) Spennicchia

Congrats to both Deb and Chris! We're so inspired by your dedication and hope we'll be able to help you cross another item off of your bucket list soon! #GoTeamFox
