Podcast: As Fox Trial Finder Reaches 20,000 Volunteers, One Volunteer Shares Her Story

Fox Trial Finder has hit another major milestone: 20,000 registered volunteers! Thank you to all of the patients, loved ones and supporters who have stepped up to help speed better treatments and, ultimately, a cure for Parkinson’s disease.

In celebration of this accomplishment, we asked Gwen Schroeder, Fox Trial Finder volunteer and Team Fox member, to share the story of her first clinical trial participation experience. Gwen sat down with MJFF contributing editor Dave Iverson to recount giving a skin sample as part of a PD clinical trial.

“It's been a few weeks and I can barely tell that I gave up a piece of my skin," says Gwen. "There's a small red mark, about the size of an apple seed, but I doubt it will leave a scar. And if it does, I will wear it proudly, knowing that I have literal skin in the game to help find a cure for my dad and all the countless dads and daughters like us.” Listen to the podcast to hear more about Gwen's experience.

Though reaching 20,000 registered volunteers is a substantial accomplishment, we recognize that there is still much work to be done. Participating in a clinical trial is an invaluable way to contribute to the pursuit of a cure for Parkinson’s disease. It can be difficult to know where to start, but Fox Trial Finder makes it easy for patients and their loved ones to find the trials that need them.

Today, 20,000 volunteers are registered on Fox Trial Finder. You can help us reach 30,000 by the end of the year. Complete your profile today at foxtrialfinder.org
