Ever since my diagnosis of PD in 2010, and the more we get involved with Fox Trial Finder and Team Fox, there is one single component that binds it all together. A name that is now all too familiar in our household: Michael J. Fox.

As a mother afflicted with PD, and as the disease will continue taking its toll every day for the rest of my life, it also impacts and changes the world of those surrounding me, my husband and my children. I can not stay still and wait for the cure to fall from the sky because I know it won't happen if we, the patients, don't educate ourselves and get involved in the search for the cure.

After all has been said and done, in our home, Michael's name is now as common as Carlos or David or Claudia. Michael has shared his fight with all of us and, by following his example, I am sharing my fight with those around me. His achievements and challenges are felt here at home as those of a relative or close friend. Therefore, we are very excited about his Golden Globe Nomination, we will be elated if he wins, and will boo at the TV if he doesn't. Sorry to say that we are not impartial, after all, he's one of ours.
