Many people assume that MJFF staffer Sam Fox is Michael’s son because of their shared last name. But they are not related. What most people don’t realize is that Michael actually does have a son who is also named… Sam.

This May, Sam Fox and Sam Fox teamed up in support of Tour de Fox before the official kickoff on June 2.

Over Memorial Day weekend, the two Sams traveled to Oregon to climb its highest peak, Mt. Hood. While Tour de Fox will pass through the state in early September, but because the Pacific Northwest received so little snow this year, attempting to reach the summit at that time will be too dangerous. So to be sure that Sam can cross all 48 state high points off his list and to get a little training in before the Tour officially started, an early season attempt on Mt. Hood’s summit was in order. After an intense climb, Sams were rewarded with an incredible experience.

For those looking to join Tour de Fox in Oregon, there will be a different climb on Mt. Hood on Thursday, September 3.
