As ultra-athlete and Michael J. Fox Foundation staffer Sam Fox (no relation to Michael) journeys on a 14,000-mile biking and hiking adventure to support Parkinson’s research, he also marks his 28th birthday today.

In honor of his birthday weekend, when we raise $18,000 for Tour de Fox from now through Sunday, June 28, an anonymous donor will give an additional $10,000 — making it $28,000 for 28 years.

Sam and his crew are entering their fourth week biking and climbing across the United States, including the highest point in the contiguous 48 states, with the goal of raising $1 million for research. Alongside them are Parkinson’s patients and families, inspired to unite the Parkinson’s community. They are currently traveling in the Southeast, with athletic and celebratory events throughout the weekend.
