Jolanta Wodzinska, PhD

Manager, Non-Clinical Discovery at ApoPharma Inc.

Dr. Wodzinska holds a PhD from the University of Toronto, where her studies focused on bio-organic chemistry and development of novel hemoglobin-based blood substitutes. She then held a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Postdoctoral Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where she investigated mechanisms of enzymatic synthesis of bacterial polyhydroxyalkanoates. She joined ApoPharma Inc. in 1998 where she has built and is currently leading the Non-Clinical Discovery Department. The department’s mandate is to conduct discovery research and screening programs leading to the characterization and selection of new drug development candidates. Dr. Wodzinska’s primary interest is the role of labile iron in neurodegenerative conditions, particularly in Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s diseases. She has successfully administered multiple research programs involving collaborations with several academic, government and contract research organizations, and is the co-inventor of several patents.
