Annelies Michiels received a Masters degree in Biomedical Sciences at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Brussels, Belgium in 2000. From 2000 to 2006, she was a doctoral student of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel at the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Therapy (LMTC; PI: Prof. Dr. K. Thielemans) in Brussels (Belgium), focusing on induction of a MART-1/Melan-A specific cellular immune response by mRNA electroporated dendritic cells. In November 2006, she was appointed as a medical information manager at Ismar Healthcare, Lier, Belgium, with specialties in Neurosciences, Oncology and Immunology. At the end of 2009, she joined the Laboratory of Neurobiology and Gene Therapy of the K.U.Leuven as a research manager (Industrial Research Fund fellowship) and has been managing the Leuven Viral Vector Core (LVVC) and the Neuro Drug Discovery platform.
