Nirmal S. Bhide, PhD

Post-doctoral Research Associate at Department of Psychology, Binghamton University

Location: Binghamton, NY United States

Dr. Bhide received his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the University of Cincinnati in 2010 where he worked with Dr.Gudelsky, the primary research focus was to characterize and study the neurochemistry and pharmacodynamic changes associated with tolerance to MDMA-induced serotonergic neurotoxicity. During his PhD training he developed a keen interest in the neuropharmacology associated with Parkinson's disease therapy. This further lead to an opportunity to work with Dr.Bishop's Movement Disorders laboratory for his post-doctoral training. Currently, Dr. Bhide is studying the maladaptive neuroplasticity associated with motor side-effects of long term L-DOPA therapy, using pre-clinical models of Parkinson's disease, in Dr. Bishop's lab. The ultimate focus is to  develop and test  pharmacological strategies that will translate into therapy to alleviate the aforementioned side effects.
