Silvio O Rizzoli, University of Göttin
Professor at University of Göttingen Medical Center
Location: , Germany
Silvio O. Rizzoli, PhD, completed a BSc in biochemistry in 2000 at the University of Bucharest, Romania. He then carried out graduate training, until 2004, in the laboratory of Dr. William Betz at the University of Colorado. Dr. Rizzoli studied synaptic function for his PhD, and then trained as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Reinhard Jahn at the Max-Planck-Institut for Biophysical Chemistry in Göttingen, Germany, again focusing on synaptic function. Since 2007, he has led his own laboratory, first as a group leader and then as a professor at the University of Göttingen Medical Center. Dr. Rizzoli’s research interests focus on synaptic physiology and synaptic disease, in particular on the mechanisms of synaptic vesicle recycling. He also works on improving microscopy techniques and especially super-resolution light microscopy.
