Gert Geurtsen PhD, MSc, studied psychology†at the University of Groningen. He obtained a masterís degree in clinical psychology in 1996. During the next years he practiced neuropsychology and specialized as†a health care psychologist and subsequently as a clinical†neuropsychologist. He combined clinical work and†research for his PhD thesis at rehabilitation center Groot Klimmendaal in Arnhem. In general, Dr. Geurtsen's research focuses on applied neuropsychological topics such†as delineating the cognitive profile of neurological and psychiatric diseases, and neuropsychological (side) effects of medical treatments. More in particular, his current research focuses on cognitive profiles in Parkinsonís disease (especially Parkinsonís disease mild cognitive impairment) and on (prediction of) cognitive sequela of deep brain stimulation.
