Mario Ezquerra Trabalón, PhD, graduated in biology in 1994 at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He earned his PhD in biology at the Central University of Barcelona in 2000 studying genetic factors associated with neurodegenerative diseases. He was a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Chartier-Harlin at the Institute Pasteur of Lille (INSERM, France), and spent several years in the Fundació Clinic of Barcelona. He also did a short stage in the Washington University in St. Louis Department of Psychiatry.
Dr. Trabalón was a Miguel Servet Research Investigator of the Carlos III Institute, Spain and a member of the Centers for Networked Biomedical Research. Since 2013 he has been an August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBAPS) researcher. Currently, he is investigating genetic and epigenetic factors, biomarkers and biochemical changes associated with neurodegenerative parkinsonisms, specifically focusing in sporadic and monogenic forms of PD.
