Sonia-Maria Poli, PhD, joined Addex in 2004 as head of non-clinical development and as a member of the executive management team, and she is currently serving as the chief scientific officer. She has broad expertise in drug discovery and development from lead generation to early clinical development. At Addex she has built and managed the non-clinical development function with a focus on the transition of discovery research molecules into clinical development. She has overseen the transition of four drug candidates into clinical development, including ADX48621 (dipraglurant).

Prior to Addex, Dr. Poli worked from 1997 to 2004 in the drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics area at Roche, where she played an important role in selecting clinical candidates in central nervous system indications, including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, bi-polar disorders and anxiety.

Dr. Poli obtained her degree and doctorate in industrial chemistry at the University of Milan in 1993 and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the CNRS in Paris in the group of Prof. D. Mansuy in 1997. Dr. Poli is co-author of more than 40 research publications and patents.
