Dr. Joanna Korecka is an instructor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School and the Neuroregeneration Research Institute at McLean Hospital. Dr. Korecka received her BSc and MSc from Utrecht University, Netherlands, and her PhD from VU University (Vrije Universiteit) in Amsterdam. In 2012, she joined the laboratory of Professor Joost Verhaagen and Professor Dick F. Swaab at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience in the Department of Neuroregeneration in Amsterdam for a post-doctoral fellowship, and, in 2013, Dr. Korecka joined the Neuroregeneration Institute (Director Dr. Ole Isacson) at McLean Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Beginning with her PhD training in Parkinson's disease, she studies gene expression profiling to functional target validation. Her research is dedicated to work on neurodegenerative diseases by studying multiple aspects of degeneration, protection and regeneration.
