Dr. Oliver Bannach studied biology at the Heinrich-Heine-University in Düsseldorf, Germany. In 2006, he completed his PhD on the biophysics of viroids (pathogens). As a post-doctoral fellow, he developed the surface-based fluorescence intensity distribution analysis (test that detects and counts protein clumps; sFIDA) assay for the diagnosis of prion (infectious) diseases at the Institute of Physical Biology at the Heinrich-Heine-University of Düsseldorf. Since 2013, Bannach has led the sFIDA diagnostics group at the research Centre Jülich. His research is committed to the development of platform technologies for diagnosis of neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease.
