Jenny Sassone, PhD

Assistant Professor of Pharmacology at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and San Raffaele Scientific Institute

Location: Milan Italy

Jenny Sassone, PhD, is a neuropharmacologist working in the neuroscience field since 2001. From 2002 to 2013, she investigated the molecular mechanisms of Huntington's disease. Later, in 2012, she started to study the role of the parkin protein and discovered the interaction between parkin and the kainate receptor. In 2014, she went on to study amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and pain with the aim of identifying molecules involved in sensation of pain. Overall, she has a long-standing interest in studying molecular mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases as well as points of contact between neurons, synapses and their role in neurodegenerative disease.
