Massimiliano (Max) Bianchi, PhD

Max Bianchi, PhD, has more than 16 years of research experience in neuropharmacology. In 2014 he founded Transpharmation Ireland Ltd, a Trinity College Dublin-based clinical research organization, which he currently leads as the general manager and scientific director. Dr. Bianchi joined the Psychiatry Centre of Excellence for Drug Discovery of GSK in 2000 and completed his PhD in neuropsychopharmacology at Nottingham University, UK, in 2007. There he studied microtubules and their involvement in the pathogenesis and treatment of depression. Dr. Bianchi then joined a French biotechnology company MAPREG, and in 2009 he designed and managed a study of new antidepressant drug candidates that modulate microtubules. The study resulted in the grant of a US patent and a publication that received extensive media coverage. Dr. Bianchi has authored over 60 publications. He has been appointed adjunct assistant professor in the School of Psychology, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland.
