Oxana Klementieva, PhD

Postdoctoral Fellow at Lund University

Location: Lund Sweden

Oxana Klementieva, PhD, received her PhD in June 2012. Later that year, she became a postdoctoral fellow at the group led by Prof. Isidre Ferrer, a leading neuropathologist in Spain, at the Institute of Neuropathology in Barcelona, Spain. She brought her background in molecular biology and biophysics to the group, which specializes in neuropathology. She identified how dendrimer nanoparticles -- tiny structures that can be loaded with drugs -- can influence clumping of amyloid-beta, a protein implicated in Alzheimer's disease. In November 2013, Dr. Klementieva joined the group of Prof. Gunnar Gouras, a leading authority within the neuroscience field, at Wallenberg Neuroscience Center, Lund University, Sweden, as a postdoctoral fellow to expand her expertise in neuroscience. Using novel experimental techniques, she continues to study Alzheimer's disease. She recently published the results of her studies in Nature Communication, a prestigious scientific journal.
