Steven R. Gullans, PhD

Associate Professor, Department of Neurology at Brigham & Women's Hospital

Dr. Gullans received his BS from Union College, and his PhD from Duke University. He is a faculty member of the Center for Neurologic Diseases at Brigham and Women's Hospital, and an associate professor at Harvard Medical School. He has 25 years of experience in basic research with particular expertise in physiology and molecular biology. Dr. Gullans has pioneered studies in functional genomics. He is director of the Brigham and Women's Microarray Biotechnology Center, co-Director of the Partners Healthcare Gene Array Technology Center (GATC), and chair of the steering committee of the NIDDK Consortium of sixteen Microarray Biotechnology Centers. He has given more than 40 invited lectures on DNA microarrays and functional genomics around the world and provides informal advice to numerous academic and commercial entities regarding microarray technology. His primary focus is global analysis of biological and molecular phenotypes, particularly neurodegenerative diseases, with the ultimate objectives of developing improved diagnostics and increasing our understanding of regulatory gene networks.
