Stephen K. Van Den Eeden's current research efforts are primarily focused on the epidemiology of environmental exposures, neurodegenerative diseases, and cancer. Environmental studies have included examining the effect of ambient air pollution on cardiovascular diseases, and the association between motor exhaust and cancer.

Dr. Van Den Eeden is currently involved in neuroepidemiologic studies of environmental and/or genetic risk factors for Parkinson’s disease, restless legs syndrome, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, and dystonia. He is also a founding Investigator on the California Men’s Health Study cohort, which is a prospective cohort study of over 84,000 men. Dr. Van Den Eeden is a co-editor of the text Neuroepidemiology: From Principles to Practice (Oxford University Press, 2004).
