Evening Receptions with The Michael J. Fox Foundation

Join one of our free in-person events to connect with your local community and learn about Parkinson’s research taking place in your backyard. Read more and find a list of cities we’ll be visiting in 2023 below. To ensure a spot, early registration is required.

  • Event Program

    This small event features an interactive program with remarks on the state of Parkinson’s research and progress toward a cure. You’ll learn about our landmark Parkinson’s Progression Markers Initiative (PPMI) study in your local area and how you can get involved. In addition, you’ll hear about a biomarker breakthrough made possible by PPMI participants. Remarks are given by Michael J. Fox Foundation staff and leading Parkinson’s researchers. The event is two hours long and includes light refreshments (beer, wine and hors d'oeuvres).

    Date: Thursday, August 17, 2023
    Time: 5 to 7 p.m. PT; check-in begins at 5 p.m.; remarks start at 6 p.m.
    Venue: Marina del Rey Marriott (4100 Admiralty Way, Marina del Rey, CA, 90292) — Pacific Ballroom on the main floor
    Speakers: 

    • Katherine S. Wong, MD; assistant professor of clinical neurology, PPMI sub-principal investigator, co-director of the movement disorders fellowship at the University of Southern California
    • Maggie Kuhl, vice president, research engagement, The Michael J. Fox Foundation

Meals: Registered participants will enjoy complimentary hors d'oeuvres and drinks (beer and wine).

Cost: Free. There is no cost to attend these events. 

COVID Guidelines: We recommend all attendees be fully vaccinated. However, at this time, proof of vaccination is not required to attend the event and facemasks are optional. Each event will follow all local rules and guidelines. If you are not feeling well, we kindly ask you to stay home.
