Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Partners for Parkinson’s IQ + You
Parkinson’s IQ + You (PDIQ) is a series of free, in-person events designed to empower patients and care partners to manage Parkinson's disease, learn about the latest research and connect with local resources. A core goal of PDIQ is to bring together a room full of people who have been touched by PD, helping them build connections based on their shared experiences and ensure that no one feels alone. To achieve this, it is imperative that we engage all people with Parkinson’s by meeting them where they are and removing as many barriers to access as possible when doing so. Our PDIQ DEI partners allow us to expand upon our existing marketing tactics and channels to better reach underrepresented communities, deliver much needed inclusive and translated materials and ensure we are engaging the entire Parkinson’s community. To join us in this important work, please email researchpartnerships@michaeljfox.org.

The Economic Burden and Impact of Parkinson’s and Related Diseases
The Michael J. Fox Foundation is currently working on launching an updated research study to characterize and quantify the current and future overall economic burden of both Parkinson's disease and atypical parkinsonisms. This study was originally conducted and published by MJFF in 2018, with support from national organizations including Parkinson's Foundation, American Parkinson Disease Association and the Parkinson's Alliance, as well as industry partners. The original assessment can be reviewed here with the new report expected to be released in early 2026 thanks to our sponsors below.
Non-Profit Sponsors
Industry Sponsors
In addition to funding billions of dollars in research, MJFF spearheads our own key initiatives to advance understanding and treatment of Parkinson’s disease. These landmark programs would not be possible without the support of our amazing research collaborators who are partnering with us to change the landscape of Parkinson’s research.
Parkinson's Progression Markers Initiative
PPMI is MJFF’s landmark observational study to better define and measure PD to speed therapeutic discovery. PPMI makes its dataset and biorepository — the most robust in Parkinson’s to date — available to researchers to accelerate breakthroughs. PPMI would not be possible without the generous financial and in-kind donations from our consortium of partners in industry companies, nonprofit organizations and private individuals. Interested in getting involved? Contact us at ppmi@michaeljfox.org.
Imaging Consortium
MJFF’s Imaging Consortium collaborates with industry and academic partners to develop and validate imaging biomarkers for Parkinson’s disease. The consortium enhances diagnostic accuracy and tracks disease progression. Members benefit from shared expertise, access to advanced imaging tools, and opportunities to influence research priorities. Email researchpartnerships@michaeljfox.org for more information and to request membership.
Imaging Consortium Sponsors:
Parkinson's Disease Research Tools Consortium
MJFF leads the Parkinson’s Disease Research Tools Consortium, which develops and distributes high-quality pre-clinical tools for Parkinson’s research. By partnering with industry collaborators and contract research organizations, the consortium addresses unmet research needs and accelerates progress. Members have access to cutting-edge tools, participate in discussions and contribute to developing key research tools. Learn more about the consortium and how to join.
Research Tools Consortium Sponsors:
MJFF collaborates with corporate partners to help inform and engage patients, caregivers, clinicians, researchers, investors and more. While the generous support of our sponsors makes our educational and training programs possible, their donations do not influence MJFF’s content, perspectives or panelist selection.
PDEC is a powerful network of multidisciplinary experts across advocacy, research and development, marketing, communications and medical affairs — who share the belief that patient and caregiver education/engagement lead to better health outcomes for the PD community. Membership includes an invitation to the PDEC Partner Summit to help build successful marketing campaigns for a PD audience. Learn more about the consortium and how to join.
Parkinson's Disease Therapeutics Conference
MJFF’s annual Parkinson's Disease Therapeutics Conference is the only scientific conference in the world focused on Parkinson’s drug development. This event brings together professionals from academia and industry to showcase innovative research, share new results and foster collaborations. For more information about attending the conference or sponsorship opportunities, please contact researchpartnerships@michaeljfox.org.
MJFF forms partnerships with like-minded organizations across neurodegenerative diseases that share our commitment to scientific collaboration and passion for results. Partnerships such as those listed below allow MJFF to unify the multifaceted work of the Parkinson's community and deepen investment to support community education and advance critical research.
The Bachmann-Strauss Fellowship in Dystonia Research
In 2014, The Bachmann-Strauss Dystonia & Parkinson Foundation formed a collaborative research alliance with MJFF and established the Bachmann-Strauss Prize for Excellence in Dystonia Research to broaden public awareness and recognize key scientific discoveries in dystonia. In 2021, MJFF, with partners Bonnie and Tom Strauss, launched the Bachmann-Strauss Fellowship in Dystonia Research to grow the base of scientists aiming to understand the causes of and contributors to dystonia.
MDS-PAS Movement Disorders School for Neurology Residents
In partnership with the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society (MDS), MJFF hosts the MDS-PAS Movement Disorders School for Neurology Residents. Through this program, neurology residents learn about movement disorders, the latest research and potential career paths in the field. The goal of the course is to provide in-depth education on movement disorders and encourage neurology residents to consider specializing in the field.
The Michael Stern Parkinson's Research Foundation
The Michael Stern Parkinson's Research Foundation (MSPRF) was founded in 2001 by the late journalist, filmmaker and philanthropist Michael Stern. In the 15 years of its operation, MSPRF supported more than $46 million in Parkinson's disease research. In 2015, the Stern Foundation named MJFF its successor organization and formed the Michael Stern Discovery Grants in Parkinson's Science to advance research focused on the underlying cause, diagnosis and treatment of PD.
Parkinson Canada
Parkinson Canada is the national Canadian organization dedicated to helping people with Parkinson’s and care partners to thrive and live courageously. Since 2023, MJFF and Parkinson Canada have partnered to bring MJFF’s Parkinson’s IQ & You live event series to communities across Canada, helping to connect people with information, resources and experts to help them live well with Parkinson’s.
