Like many families affected by Parkinson’s disease, the Kellys have one goal in mind: to see their father, Mike Kelly, live his life free of Parkinson’s. And they will stop at nothing to help bring The Michael J. Fox Foundation closer to that goal.
Since joining Team Fox in 2009, the Kelly family has raised nearly $60,000 for Parkinson’s research by running marathons, organizing their own road race, and most recently, hosting a bar event. Mike has been a part of our NYC marathon team each year since 2009; last year, daughters Jennie and Mary ran with him, and this year son Michael Jr. will be by his side. Mom Ellen states in our Team Fox video, “We really believe that, with people like us and everybody else, and the Foundation, we’re going to find a cure.”
As if running 26.2 miles isn’t enough, the Kelly family decided to organize their own race for Team Fox—The River View Run for Parkinson’s Research in Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY. Now in its third year, the River View Run includes a 5K run/walk or a 10K run. The route hugs the Hudson River in upstate New York, offering spectacular views and a few tough hills—it’s the perfect combination of challenging and fun.
To help them reach their fundraising goal of $40,000, mark your calendars for Sunday, October 7th and sign up here to secure your spot. Transportation will be provided for those coming from NYC. If you’re interested in learning more, email us directly at teamfox@michaeljfox.org.
