Hitting the Road in 2025: Championing Community Fundraising at Every Stop

DIY staff are dedicated to supporting our community fundraisers.

In 2025, The Michael J. Fox Foundation’s Do-It-Yourself (DIY) staff hit the road — crisscrossing the country to show up for the community-led events that power our mission. From rides and races to long-running fundraisers marking milestone years, each stop offered a reminder of the passion, creativity and dedication that fuel Team Fox.

Whether cheering on cyclists in New England, celebrating a decade of poker nights out West or joining families and longtime supporters throughout the Midwest, the team saw firsthand how community members bring people together to raise critical funds and awareness for Parkinson’s research. And at every event, staff found themselves inspired by the people behind the work.

Alexandria Knipper, Community Fundraising Specialist

“Having the opportunity to attend Team Fox fundraising events is such an incredible experience. Seeing these fundraisers and their dedication toward raising funds to find a cure for Parkinson’s is beyond admirable. I leave each event in awe of the unwavering dedication and impact that has been made. Being able to honor and recognize our top fundraisers at MJFF's MVP Celebration Weekend in New York City is a great way to meet new fundraisers and hear about their events!

Duyen Spigelman, Director of Community Fundraising

"I love the opportunity to see how the Team Fox community mobilizes coast to coast — from the SoCal Ride 4 Parkinson’s in Irvine, California, to the Bernin’ to the Beach ride in New Bern, North Carolina, and the New England Parkinson’s Ride in Old Orchard Beach, Maine. While each ride has their own unique personality, all of them are united by folks who were inspired to action by family members living with Parkinson’s and have galvanized thousands of people to take a spirited ride to raise awareness and critical funds. Whether it's lobster rolls or In 'n' Out burgers, rain or shine, these rides are setting the pace!"

Kate Harmon, Senior Community Fundraising Specialist

"There's something special about supporting Team Fox families that remind you of your own and welcome you into the fray so quickly. I made a little vacation out of heading down south in Birmingham, Alabama, for the Rowland Road Series and then finished the season in Atlanta, Georgia, with Whelen Cadillac at their final International Motor Sports Association race of the year!"

Kiera McMullan, Community Fundraising Specialist

"This year's Hannig Cup Regatta, themed 'Sailing Back to the Future,' was Team Fox’s first fundraiser at Sequioa Yacht Club in Redwood City, California. After a competitive race on San Francisco Bay, the community came together to support MJFF and other local charities. I look forward to working with the Hannig Cup in the future!"

Kylie Hogrefe, Community Fundraising Specialist

"As a non-cyclist, I've never been more pleased to ride a bike in the rain through Central Park in New York City, and it's all thanks to the camaraderie of my wonderful riding companions who were fundraising for the 10th Annual Park to the Nott Ride. In the less than an hour I spent riding with them on their three-day journey, my eyes were opened even more to their enduring dedication to this cause."

Lauren Williamson, Senior Community Fundraising Specialist

"It was so great getting to celebrate the 10th year of Poker for Parkinson's hosted by Rich Kline in San Francisco, California. He has been dedicated to MJFF for many years, even beyond his own event hosting, and celebrating this milestone was very exciting — especially since this was his biggest fundraising year to date!"

From coast to coast, the DIY team continues to show up, cheer on and champion the passionate organizers who fuel community-led fundraising. The miles traveled are many — but the moments shared with Team Fox families, long-standing event hosts and first-time fundraisers are what make each stop meaningful.

And in 2026, there are many more stops ahead! Interested in fundraising for Team Fox?
