Team Fox is excited to announce that on May 1, 2016 the eighth annual Jake’s Ride will return to the Short Hills, NJ community to raise funds and awareness for The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Founded in 2008, Jake’s Ride is named for Jake Silverman, a 19-year old American University sophomore who grew up in Short Hills and was diagnosed with early onset childhood dystonia at age 11. Since 2008, the ride has raised more than $2 million, funding 23 dystonia research grants and five movement disorder fellowships.

Attracting more than 1,000 bikers, walkers and volunteers annually, Jake’s Ride has become a favored fall tradition for local supporters and sponsors with a variety of family-friendly entertainment and activities. This spring, the ride will once again take place at Hartshorn Elementary School with courses throughout Millburn/Short Hills. 

“We are so grateful for all of the community support Jake’s Ride has received over the past seven years, for us personally as a family and on behalf of the thousands of dystonia patients who will benefit from the invaluable research efforts the event has generated,” said Jake’s mother Nancy Silverman. “We take pride in our new partnership with Team Fox, knowing that our efforts are connected with one of the world’s top research foundations.”

To kick-off their fundraising efforts this year, the Jake’s Ride committee will be hosting Jake’s Classic Car Ride — a fundraising and cocktail reception at The Classic Car Club of Manhattan (Thursday, October 1 from 6 to 10 p.m.). The evening will feature rides in exotic cars, appearances by professional racecar drivers, hors d’oeuvres and cocktails, music and a special appearance by the time-traveling DeLorean.  Tickets are limited and all donations are 100 percent tax deductible.
