Through MJFF’s Open Access Policy we offer current MJFF awardees coverage for article processing charges (APC fees) if the following requirements are met:
- The manuscript must arise (in whole or in part) from research conducted with MJFF funding.
- The manuscript must acknowledge MJFF as a funder of the research and specify the corresponding MJFF Grant ID number within the appropriate section of the article’s main text (e.g. Acknowledgements, Funding, etc.).
- Sample acknowledgement language: This research was funded in whole or in part [Grant number] by the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF). For the purpose of open access, the author has applied for a CC BY [replace with CC0, CC BY-ND if appropriate] public copyright license to all Author Accepted manuscripts arising from this submission.
- The manuscript must have been submitted to a reputable, peer-reviewed scientific journal operating as a fully open access or hybrid open access entity.
- The research contained within the manuscript shall not have been previously published (in whole or in part) in another peer-reviewed journal.
- The applicant/author shall have not yet paid APC fees to the publishing journal.
- For publications arising out of use of data and/or biospecimen from Fox Insight, PPMI, S4 or other similar MJFF sponsored studies, please ensure that you have read and complied with the data and/or sample use agreement and specific publication policy requirements that were included in your main grant agreement.
APC Payment Instructions:
- Reimbursements for already paid APCs are not permitted.
- Your institution may have a publishing agreement that covers APCs - check before proceeding.
- Generate the APC invoice through the publisher's website.
- Use your institution's billing details and your email address so the invoice is sent directly to you.
- Do not submit the request form until you have the invoice file ready to upload.
- If the publisher requests MJFF’s tax exemption status, you may download the tax certificate here.
