Alexander Maximilian Bernhardt, MD, is a resident at the department of neurology, Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, Germany (chairman: Professor Günter Höglinger). He studied medicine at Heidelberg University, University of Oxford (UK), University College London (UK) and McGovern Medical School (Texas Medical Center in Houston, USA). His research focuses on unravelling protein aggregates that underlie the pathology of Parkinson’s disease and atypical Parkinsonian syndromes, such as progressive supranuclear palsy and multiple system atrophy, and their potential clinical utility as biomarkers to support clinical decision making. He co-founded and serves as the president of the Young Alliance Against Multiple System Atrophy, a registered charitable association dedicated to fostering patient-centric research on multiple system atrophy.
