Professor Cedric Bardy is an ARC future fellow and a prominent researcher at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI) and Flinders University. After earning a doctorate from the University of Sydney (2004–2008), Dr. Bardy pursued postdoctoral training at the Pasteur Institute in Paris (2008–2011) and the Salk Institute for Biological Studies (2011–2016) under the mentorship of Prof. Fred Gage. He currently leads the laboratory for human neurophysiology and genetics at Flinders University/SAHMRI (www.bardylab.com) and serves as the founding director of Brain Organoid Therapeutics (www.brainorganoidtherapeutics.com). Dr. Bardy’s research focuses on developing therapeutics for neurodegeneration and brain cancer, and his team has played a pioneering role in advancing preclinical human brain models. He is internationally recognized for inventing BrainPhys™, a widely used medium for maturing human brain cells, and for his groundbreaking contributions to using models derived from stem cells to study genetic brain disorders.
