Dr. Jagid is a board-certified neurosurgeon who specializes in functional neurosurgery, epilepsy surgery, deep brain stimulation (DBS), head injury, and radiosurgery. He has over 20 years of experience in DBS. His research includes multicenter studies in DBS, hypothermia for both spinal cord injury (SCI) and head injury, and ablation for refractory epilepsy. He has been PI for industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies at UMiami including the Neuralink PRIME trial. He is faculty at the Miami Project to Cure Paralysis and contributes significantly to translational research, specifically through DBS for intractable neuropathic pain in SCI and stimulation of the Cuneiform nucleus in dopamine-resistant freezing of gait. He is chief of Functional and Epilepsy Neurosurgery and the Neuro-trauma division. As fellowship director for Functional Neurosurgery and Neuro-trauma, he has mentored numerous trainees, which includes training in subspecialties of Neurological Surgery and oversight of trainee research: study design and initiation, data maintenance, and IDE-specific work with the FDA.
