Julie M. Zissimopoulos, PhD, is a Professor in the Sol Price School of Public Policy and Chair, Department of Health Policy and Management at the University of Southern California. Dr. Zissimopoulos directs USC’s Resource Center for Minority Aging Research and Center for Sociodemographic and Economic Study of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias supporting research to reduce burden of AD/ADRD and funded by the National Institute on Aging. Dr. Zissimopoulos leads a multi-year study funded by The Michael J. Fox Foundation on the long term value of disease modifying therapies for Parkinson’s disease. Other projects include quantifying costs of dementia in the U.S, impact of innovation in Alzheimer’s disease therapeutics, and health care use effects of Medicare benefit design. She is Lead Section Editor, Health Policy and Caregiving, Alzheimer’s & Dementia, Journal of the Alzheimer’s Association. She served on several National Academies of Science, Engineering, Medicine Committees focused on dementia research priorities and served as Summit Co-chair for the third triennial National Research Summit on Care, Services, and Supports for Persons with Dementia and their Care Partners/Caregivers. Dr. Zissimopoulos received a PhD in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
