Romina Aron Badin, PhD

Dr. Aron Badin obtained a PhD from University College of London, UK. After a postdoctoral fellowship working on transplantation of MRI visible cells, she joined the CEA in France for a second postdoctoral fellowship investigating the antidyskinetic effects of a novel compound in a parkinsonian model that proceeded to a clinical trial. She has led both the primate neurosurgery and behavioral platforms in the Molecular Imaging Research Center (MIRCen) since 2009. She was appointed deputy director of MIRCen in 2019 and leads translational research on gene-, cell- and drug-based therapies for PD and Huntington’s disease, and she develops and characterizes primate models of neurodegenerative diseases. She is president of the Network of European CNS transplantation and repair and co-leads the European Huntington’s disease Network’s Advanced Therapies Working Group and Surgical task force in its effort to accelerate the translation of biomarkers and therapies to patients.
