Terry Ellis, PhD, PT, FAPTA is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy and Director of the Center for Neurorehabilitation in Sargent College of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences, Boston University. Her research focuses on understanding mechanisms underlying walking impairments in persons with Parkinson disease and developing rehabilitation approaches to improve walking in the home and community settings. She has expertise in applying digital technologies to improve the quality and quantity of real-world walking. She has also developed and evaluated the effects of soft robotic exosuits to prevent freezing of gait and restore locomotor function in those living with Parkinson disease. Dr. Ellis has a PhD in Behavioral Neurosciences from Boston University School of Medicine and is a licensed physical therapist with board certification in Neurologic Physical Therapy.  She has published numerous articles and lectures internationally on topics related to improving real-world walking outcomes in Parkinson disease.
