Clinical Instructor, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Medical University of South Carolina

Location: Charleston, SC United States

Travis Turner, PhD, studied psychology and neuroscience at the University of Pittsburgh and earned his doctorate in clinical psychology through San Diego State University and the University of California, San Diego. He completed clinical internship and postdoctoral training in neuropsychology at the Medical University of South Carolina and VAMC in Charleston. He currently holds faculty positions in these institutions, with clinical and research emphasis in Parkinson’s disease. His primary objective is expanding and improving the clinical toolbox for cognitive assessment. Previous work in this pursuit includes development and standardization of computerized cognitive batteries, computational modeling of working memory component processes, and clinical neuropsychological assessment via videoconferencing (i.e., telemedicine). He is compelled by studies demonstrating utility of saccadic eye movements with regard to neurocognitive functioning, and aims to bring this technique out of the laboratory and into the clinic for individual assessments and clinical trials in Parkinson’s disease and related disorders.
