Sponsored Tools Program

At the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) it is our belief that open access to shared resources will speed research and accelerate development of new therapies and potential cures for Parkinson’s disease.

To enable researchers to focus on hypothesis-driven research rather than generating and sharing preclinical tools and models, MJFF developed a program to reduce the burden on investigators who have generated novel tools/models by freeing them from the burden of processing requests for their resources.

Using experienced gained from this program for over a decade, MJFF has streamlined systems that ensure research tools and models are readily available to scientific community with minimal barriers to access.  The MJFF Sponsored Tools Program covers the cost and serves as the coordinator for the transfer of your tool/model to our repository partners, while the depositing investigator retains rights to the tool and can continue using and sharing as they desire.

Tools and Repositories

Animal Models

  • mouse illustration

    The Jackson Laboratory (JAX)

MJFF partners with The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) to house and distribute mouse models generated by academic labs to non-profit and for-profit researchers. JAX offers researchers the option to keep lines private until publication is available.

  • rat illustration

    Taconic Biosciences

MJFF partners with Taconic Biosciences to house and distribute rat models generated by academic labs to non-profit and for-profit researchers. Taconic offers researchers the option to keep lines private until publication is available.

Antibodies

  • antibody illustration

    Abcam

MJFF partners with Abcam to license and distribute antibodies generated by academic labs to non-profit and for-profit researchers. Abcam offers researchers the option to keep lines private until publication is available.

Cell Lines

  • cell culture illustration

    WiCell

MJFF partners with WiCell to house and distribute Induced Pluripotent Stem Cell (iPSC) Lines generated by academic labs to non-profit and for-profit researchers. WiCell offers researchers the option to keep lines private until publication is available.

Viral Vectors

  • viral vector illustration

    Charles River Laboratories

MJFF partners with Charles River Laboratories to license and distribute viral vectors generated by academic labs to non-profit and for-profit researchers.

Plasmids

  • plasmid illustration

    Addgene

MJFF recommends investigators take advantage of Addgene’s plasmid repository which enables researchers to deposit plasmids for distribution to non-profit researchers.
