Ride Scenic Sonoma with Tour de Fox Wine Country Edition

Ride Scenic Sonoma with Tour de Fox Wine Country Edition

This June, endurance athlete and MJFF staff member Sam Fox (no relation to Michael) kicked off Tour de Fox, a 14,000-mile, three-month-long journey to raise $1 million to help end Parkinson’s. This August 29, Tour de Fox participant Mark Homchick, and captain of Team Phil Schilling/Cycle Magazine, will join him for one of the most scenic legs of the Tour: a bike ride through California’s beautiful Sonoma County. Read more about Mark’s inspiration for getting involved with Tour de Fox, and how you too can ride for a cure!

For Mark Homchick, this bicycle ride hits close to home. Mark’s mentor and editor of the late Cycle Magazine, Phil Schilling, (pictured right) passed away this May after living with Parkinson’s for many years. Mark credits Phil's “selfless guidance, encouragement, teaching, and gestures of goodwill” for making him the man he is today. And now, Mark is taking action for Phil and the rest of the Parkinson’s community: He is cycling in the inaugural Tour de Fox Wine Country Edition on August 29 —and so can you.

Join Mark and more than 250 riders as they cycle from Kendall Jackson Wine Estate and Garden through Sonoma County to enjoy breathtaking views, impeccable wine tasting and more. All levels of experience are encouraged; there are four bike rides of varying length:

The Long, an 82-mile challenging ride with the largest elevation gain

The Medium, a 51-mile ride between Geyserville and Kendall Jackson Wine Estate and Garden

The Short, a 31.5-mile ride between Healdsburg and Kendall Jackson Wine Estate and Garden

The Petite, a 10-mile ride with limited elevation gain

That’s not all. The $50 registration fee includes admission to a post-ride festival at Kendall Jackson Wine Estate and Garden — food and music galore. Plus, now through August 29, all donations made to the ride will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000. Learn more about Tour de Fox Wine Country Edition.
