Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) introduced a bill (S.269) to reduce toxic chemicals in our environment, including the herbicide paraquat. Studies show that exposure to paraquat has been associated with increased risk for Parkinson’s disease. One study found that people exposed to paraquat at a younger age — in their teen or young adult years — had an increased risk for Parkinson’s by 100 to 500 percent, depending on overall exposure. More than 50 countries have already banned paraquat.
Please email your Senators today and ask them to support you and the Parkinson’s community by co-sponsoring this important legislation.
