Dr. Marras trained in neurology and movement disorders at the University of Toronto, and subsequently obtained a PhD in epidemiology at the University of Toronto and further trained in epidemiologic research methods at the Parkinson’s Institute in California. She is currently an Associate Professor of Neurology at the University of Toronto and a neurologist at the Toronto Western Hospital Movement Disorders Centre.  She also serves as an associate editor for the Movement Disorders Journal and vice-chair of the research ethics board of the University Health Network in Toronto. 

Areas of research focus include the epidemiology and clinical expression of genetic forms of Parkinson’s disease, prognosis and environmental etiology of Parkinson’s disease and evaluating clinical assessment tools in Parkinson’s disease.
