Samir Kaul

Founding Partner and Managing Director • Khosla Ventures

Samir Kaul joined the Board of Directors of The Michael J. Fox Foundation in 2025. He is a Founding Partner and Managing Director at Khosla Ventures, where he focuses on artificial intelligence (AI), advanced technology, health and sustainability.

Samir has led investments in successful companies including Guardant Health, Nutanix, Oscar, QuantumScape, Rightway Healthcare and Ultima Genomics. Before co-founding Khosla Ventures, he worked at Flagship Ventures. He has published seven peer-reviewed papers in genomics, including a landmark Nature paper detailing the first complete genome of a flowering plant. Samir holds a degree from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Active in philanthropy, Samir serves on the board and chairs the Development Committee of UCSF Benioff Childrens Hospital. He is also a founding donor to the Elevate Campaign for the Yellowstone Club Community Foundation.

Samir remains deeply involved with his alma maters, the University of Michigan and Harvard University. He endowed the directorship of the Michigan Institute for Computational Discovery and Engineering and established a Professorship of Biomedical Innovation and Translation between Harvard Medical School and Harvard Business School. He also serves on the Deans Cabinet of Harvards School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

He was a longtime member of the Nominating and Leadership Committees of the Tipping Point Community, a leading nonprofit focused on poverty alleviation in the Bay Area, and served on the board of trustees for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association.
