Gregory A. Petsko, DPhil, received his bachelor’s degree from Princeton University and his D. Phil. from Oxford University, which he attended as a Rhodes Scholar. After a brief postdoctoral fellowship in Paris he became instructor and then assistant professor at Wayne State University School of Medicine (Detroit), associate professor and then professor of chemistry at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge), and Tauber Professor of Biochemistry and Chemistry at Brandeis University (Waltham, Mass.). He joined the faculty of Weill Cornell Medical College (New York) in 2012, where he directs the Appel Alzheimer’s Disease Research Institute. Dr. Petsko is an elected member of the National Academy of Sciences, the Institute of Medicine, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society. His current research is focused on finding treatments for Alzheimer’s disease, ALS and Parkinson’s disease.
