Location: Cambridge United Kingdom

Albert Koulman, PhD, is head of the Core Metabolomics and Lipidomics Laboratory and a principal investigator at the Metabolic Research Laboratories of the University of Cambridge. He is head of the Nutritional Biomarker Laboratory, and both his labs are part of the Cambridge Biomedical Research Centre funded by the National Institute of Health Research. From 2007 to 2016, he was senior scientist of Biological Mass Spectrometry at the MRC Human Nutrition Research in Cambridge after working for three years in New Zealand on metabolomics for agricultural research. Dr. Koulman has been at the forefront of the development and application of methods and technologies in metabolomics and lipidomics for 15 years. The methods he developed have been used to study the metabolism from a cellular level to in large-scale population studies, building a track record in biomarker discovery and validation for nutrition and health research.
