Antonio Oliviero, MD, PhD

Antonio Oliviero, MD, PhD, graduated with from the Universitá Cattolica-Rome, Italy in 1993 and obtained a degree in neurology in 1997. He completed his PhD in neuroscience at Universitá Cattolica (Rome, Italy) in 2002, with a thesis on the physiological basis of transcranial magnetic stimulation of the motor cortex in humans. Since 2003, he has worked at Hospital Nacional de Parapléjicos in Toledo (Spain), where he is a clinical neurologist and director of the Functional Exploration and Neuromodulation of the Nervous system (FENNSI) Group.

Dr. Oliviero’s main research interests are: (1) neuromodulation techniques to treat neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders; (2) clinical trials in spinal cord injury. In 2010 he received the investigation award from the Spanish Association of Disabled and Paraplegic Patients (ASPAYM). He has published more the 120 articles in scientific journals and several patents. He is cofounder of Neurek SL, a spin-off company of the Fundación del Hospital Nacional de Parapléjicos (www.neurek.com).
